MY EYES! MY EYES!

Obviously Seattle has a rogue house painter on the loose. eek. Here he is at work in the Wedgwood neighborhood.

And I know you all remember this, our first find:

We think it's time for a vote! Which is the color you most don't want on the house next door?

At least with the pink house they've attempted to color-coordinate the roof to the house color. (Although, you've got to feel sorry for the next owners when they try to find a paint color that matches dark rose metal.)

Yyghugh. That competes for ugly, but the teal is definitely more eye-searing... what are people thinking? And what about the paint-salesmen? Are they immune from blame?

Well, that's a tricky question because the PINK house IS just about my neighbor! I've always enjoyed the fact that the roof metal is red--obviously someone gave this A LOT of thought, not like the teal house with its air of "what is in the mis-mixed paint sale selection today?"

At the risk of exposing my capacity for bad taste, I kind of like the little pink house. Not that I would paint my house that color mind you, I just don't find it offensive. Besides it has that kind of John Cougar Mellencamp 'Little Pink Houses' thing going for it, right? :-)

The teal house on the other hand has a pretty high shudder-factor. I'll second Janine's impression that they got a big discount on a paint clerk error. Possibly even free.

I'm with Denise. The pink house is charming.

Everyone should paint their house the color they like -- despite with the neighbors and bloggers think.

When we bought our house it was between TWO pink ones -- I always kinda liked that. And ours is a very conservative grey and white (with a screaming red door).

Good Heavens, THIS is why home owner's associations were established.
The Pink is not as bad as the teal, though, as there is some greenery to tone it down, the green near the teal house just makes it more awful.
Oh Dear- and you should pay a visit to Phinney Ridge. There is a bright yellow house with multi colored trim there. It's very scary.

There was a bright yellow green house in Princeton, NJ that the whole town gossipped about. It turned out that the owners were recent immigrants from Ireland. Apparently bright colored houses were common there and the couple were homesick.

On the other hand, the shipyards here gave too many landlords leftover puce paint. Did we get too use to that drab stuff?

If Seattle had a bright sunny climate or a different cultural background, we would probably happily paint our homes bright colors and these homes would not stand out.

I'm waiting for you to find one with polka dots on it. If there were polka dots on the pink one's roof, it would look like Disney's version of a mushroom.

The teal house really is an eyesore. Maybe they're colour blind.

I like the pink one. I think there may be something wrong with me.

The teal house leaps out because everything is teal. I could not see any attempt at a trim color which might have toned down the over powering color. Even the stairs are the same color. However, it really could be that the owner is color bind to the brightness of the teal. I showed the picture to a friend who is color blind to greens and browns and he told me he didn't see anything wrong with the two story house.

I'm partial to the pink house, I drive past it nearly every day. I like to imagine some little-old-lady living there, putting on that red roof just to spite her busy-body neighbors who object to her eight cats. On Sunday she has tea with a little bit of Tia Maria in it. But that's just my rich imagination.
